She studied at Emily Carr University of Art and Design majoring in Cultural and Critical Practices. Ceilidh also holds a degree in English Literature from Dalhousie University. In the WAM residency Ceilidh will be exploring Caribbean hybridity and identity through fruit. In addition to its symbolism of fertility, bounty, and wealth, fruit has a troubled history and relationship with labour and class, especially in the Caribbean. This joyful, immersive installation will emphasize the relationship between the joy of fruit and the hands that pick it.

5:00 pm-6:00 pm: Karma Yoga Studios Chair Yoga: A low impact yoga experience for people of all ages (especially elders)

6:00 pm-6:30 pm: ORIGINS (Kevin Fraser and Immigrant Lessons)
Is a dance theatre journey into a past that leaves echoes in the present. Witness five diverse young voices, as they dive into their unique stories, and journey through intersections of identity, to uncover the similarities, together through the mediums of: dance, theatre, voice, spoken word, and archives of the memories passed down. We voyage through histories of migration, separation, sacrifice, assimilation, unwavering hope despite all odds, and the ripples of the ones before us, guiding us through to the present. How do we sift away the debris of generations ago? How do we stand in the truths of how it has affected us in the present? How do we hold space for one another as we peel back the layers of traumas passed down? How do we coexist?

8:00 pm- MonkeyDragon featuring Caleb Hart– Ticketed event. $15

We’re thrilled to have The Sweetest Thing mobile boutique onsite from 12-4

Community groups are encouraged and welcomed to think about getting involved and thinking of good ways of being together in small groups and activities.

This is a time to heal and celebrate together safely and supportively. Open Space is the place to do it.
