An Exhibition by New Westminster Secondary Students
February 18th to April 29th.
The Elders in our Midst project started in discussion with Louise Cournoyer, Keith Randall and Amy Le Blanc. The collaborative community project started in earnest with students at NWSS meeting local members of New Westminster and getting to know them through activities and interviews.
The interviews were conducted by the students, so they could find out more about life experiences and passions of the locals they were paired with.
This wealth of details, gleaned through getting to iknow the community members, led to preparation designs and a final portrait of each of the 22 community members that imbues more than just the person on face value, instead a visual narrative has been created by each student that describes the lives of these local community members through visual art.
The amazing final portraits will be in an exhibition titled “In-Visible” at Eight & Eight on the Massey Theatre main floor till April 29th.
Open to the public 1 to 4pm Tuesday to Friday, by appointment, 604-517-5900, and during Massey Theatre performances.
