Don’t miss the electrifying opening night of OUROFEST! Experience bold new works by BC’s own Cristina Bucci (2023 Jacqueline Lemieux Prize) and Joanne Park, alongside a special performance from our international guest artist all the way from Greece, TARANTISM.
TARANTISM will share a powerful solo blending street dance, ballroom Latin, and physical theatre to embody the battle between ego, superego, and subconscious. Acclaimed internationally, this work pulls you into a raw exploration of control, chaos, and the human condition.
This presentation is part of OUROFEST, an annual multi-day street dance festival celebrating dancers, DJs, and community, hosted by OURO Collective. This year the festival will include two mainstage shows in partnership with the Massey, featuring celebrated local and international street dance artists. This is a ‘not to be missed’ chance to see street dance in a theatre space and join in witnessing and celebrating this boundary crossing form.
This performance is family-friendly and welcomes audiences from all communities. If you’ve been to a dozen battles before or have no idea what street dance is, we’re excited to welcome you to the theatre and share the work of these captivating artists.

WEST is a student choreographed competitive Hip Hop team that attends multiple high school dance competitions and performs at athletic games and school events throughout the school year. In just 2 short years since the team was founded, WEST has already made their mark – earning 2nd and 3rd place trophies at major high school dance competitions.
Oscar is a Hip Hop Dancer specializing in Popping with A2 District and West Dance Crew. He is also a DJ and beat production student at Table Tutors, and a battle DJ for street dance battles. He is a 10th grade student at NWSS.
Tickets are not required, so come early and join the fun before the show! We look forward to seeing you there!
