Philosophy & Dance : A Threshold of Indiscernability with Sevrin Emnacen-Boyd

A movement oriented exploration of the philosophy of dance for youth under 21 prioritizing BIPOC youth.
Students will be introduced to the various interplays between how philosophy can inform dance and how dance can inform philosophy. Each class will be a balance between investigating the history of ideas within philosophy, and movement practices where ideas will be put to work. The texts informing the course will give students a general understanding of the philosophy of dance. Discover how dance can radically challenge a myriad of presuppositions that have informed both philosophical thought and common sense, as well as n how radical shifts of perspectives can transform their approach toward dance. The focus of this course is Breaking , however dancers from any style and level of experience are welcome.
Participants need to bring indoor shoes. Registration limited to 10 participants to allow for appropriate social distancing. Dancers with all levels of experience, training and dance style welcome.
