MASSEY THEATRE'S
WINTER SPECTACULAR
A Spectacular is a live a multi-media theatrical production utilizing large scale performing arts, scenic and production elements and large numbers of performers and craftspeople.
There'll be a myriad of rainforest citizens, nutty stand-up squirrels, puppets, a marching Band, a musical bicycle ride, diverse dance and music, and unusual talents. The story follows a little girl in her first westcoast winter.
On December 16th, 2009, Massey Theatre will celebrate 60 years since the day it opened in 1949. At the same time New Westminster nears the end of its 150th anniversary celebration year. To celebrate a significant pair of anniversaries, Massey Theatre is launching a project which will engage and inspire New Westminster citizens for years to come. The Spectacular runs for five performances and involves hundreds of community members.
The Spectacular will showcase the talent, spirit and significance of the community in a unique and far reaching way. It will be enhanced each year for years to come with the intention of becoming a new seasonal tradition to invigorate community spirit each December.
The show is written by local Playwright Jan Derbyshire who co-directs with Andrew McIlroy. Sets are designed by Ted Roberts.
