Arts Council and Massey Theatre presents
Last Monday at the Movies
Coco Before Chanel
This movie has something for everyone: stunning period detail and an outstanding performance by Audrey Tautou. Focusing on Chanel's formative years before the First World War. The young Gabrielle, or Coco as she soon became known, spends her days as a seamstress and her nights as a cabaret entertainer. For a film that is, after all, all about fashion, director Anne Fontaine is most concerned with showing how Coco became Chanel. Wonderfully shot and acted, with a keen sense of time and place this film is as impressive as it is intelligent. French with English Subtitles.
